Get Your SSDI Benefits Reinstated
Your SSDI payments have stopped. This is a financial emergency β but SSA has specific reinstatement pathways including Expedited Reinstatement (EXR) that can restore benefits faster than a new application.
SSA's bureaucracy is complex, timelines are long, and the process has multiple stages. EXR is straightforward, but CDR appeals require strong medical evidence and often attorney involvement.
β Why This Happens
Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA) Exceeded
Most commonEarning above SSA's SGA threshold ($1,550/month in 2024 for non-blind) triggers suspension after the Trial Work Period ends.
Failure to Report Changes
Very commonNot reporting income, marriage, address changes, or improvement in medical condition can cause SSA to suspend benefits retroactively.
Medical Improvement Review
CommonSSA periodically conducts Continuing Disability Reviews (CDRs). If SSA determines your condition has improved sufficiently, benefits are terminated.
Incarceration
CommonSSDI is suspended after 30 consecutive days of incarceration in a jail, prison, or correctional facility.
Failure to Cooperate with SSA
ModerateNot responding to SSA requests for information, forms, or medical exams results in suspension.
